[ About Zuzo ]
An independent web design studio, small on purpose
Zuzo is nine designers and engineers who build websites for growing companies. We started the studio because most company sites stop improving the day they launch, and we thought that was a solvable problem.
Why websites stall
Sites are designed as pages, not systems
The people who built it have gone
Editors are afraid to touch it
Speed decays quietly
01 / 04Every new page is a one-off, so the brand drifts a little each time and every launch takes longer than the last.
02 / 04Agencies hand over and move on. Nobody left on your team really understands how the site fits together.
03 / 04One wrong click breaks a layout, so every small change becomes a ticket and a two-week wait.
04 / 04Scripts, images and plugins pile up until the site is slow, and rankings slip without anyone noticing.
01Principles
Designed to last, not just to launch
01
Systems before pages
We design the parts first, so every page after launch is easy to make and hard to get wrong.
02
One team, start to finish
Strategy, design and engineering in the same room, so nothing gets lost between hand-offs.
03
Built for your editors
If your team cannot change it without us, we have not finished the job.
04
Measured in numbers
Speed, conversions and rankings agreed up front, then reported honestly after launch.
02What we believe
A website should get better every month it is live
-
We stay small
Nine people, six projects a year. It is the only way every client gets the senior team from the first call to the last release.
-
We sweat the details
Easing curves, line lengths, alt text, the space under a button. The small things are what make a site feel right.
-
We say what we think
If something will not work, we say so early, even when it is not what you hoped to hear.
-
We hand over everything
Code, files, accounts and know-how. You should never need us, even if you choose to keep us.
03In numbers
Small by design

04FAQ
About the studio
Something else on your mind? Email the studio and a designer, not a salesperson, replies within a day.
How big is the team?
Nine people across strategy, design, motion and engineering. Everyone who pitches your project works on it.
Why do you only take six projects a year?
Because it lets the senior team stay on every project from the first workshop to the months after launch. More projects would mean handing work to people you have never met, which is exactly what we set out to avoid.
Where is Zuzo based?
We work remotely across several time zones and keep at least four hours of overlap with every client team, so questions get answered the same day.
What kind of clients are the best fit?
Growing companies with a marketing team of two to twenty people and a website that has to change often. SaaS, consumer brands, travel and cultural organisations make up most of our work.
Do you subcontract work?
No. The work is done by the studio team. For specialist needs such as illustration or copywriting we introduce trusted partners, and you contract them directly if you choose to.
Are you hiring?
We hire a few times a year. Send a short note and a link to your work to hello@zuzostudio.com and we will keep it on file for the next opening.
